Orange Is The New Black star Taryn Manning looks totally different over five years on from the Netflix series coming to an end.

The 46-year-old actor, based in Los Angeles, is best known for her role as evangelical Christian Tiffany ‘Pennsatucky’ Doggett in the long-running original series.

While the star was frequently seen at red carpet events and other high-profile gatherings as recently as October 2024, new images reveal a significant change in their appearance over the past few weeks.

Manning is observed resting against the trunk of a vehicle adorned with a Trump/Vance sticker, dressed in a white hooded fleece, coordinating sweatpants, and sporting a t-shirt featuring merchandise from the 80s thrash metal band, Suicidal Tendencies.

They sport long, damp blonde hair and wear a set of tinted sunglasses, giving them a weary appearance.

The Crossroads star also has the phrases ‘I am on my own journey, not yours’ and ‘Jesus is my saviour, protect my soul’ in her Instagram bio.

She has maintained a steady acting career since leaving Orange Is The New Black, most controversially starring in the 2021 horror-comedy Karen in which she played a racist white woman trying to oust her Black neighbours.

Her latest film is the horror-thriller Bloodline Killer, released in 2024.

The star previously sparked concern after Orange Is The New Black came to a close for posting a since-deleted rant on social media claiming the ‘show hurt me more than anything else has in my life’. She later said she had been ‘epically hacked’.

Manning experienced a tumultuous period while working on Orange Is the New Black. In 2016, due to some disturbances during filming, she was admitted to a psychiatric facility and has since been accompanied by a sobriety coach.

During a chat on the Black Oxygen YouTube channel last week, she spoke about her first impressions of the character, all these years later.

"When I initially read it, I perceived her as a Christian bigot, someone who was anti-gay and racist. I thought to myself, 'Wow, I'm probably not going to make many friends on this show or in public.' However, as time went on, it turned out to be a positive experience because over the course of seven years, she underwent significant transformations," she reminisced.

And in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2023 she also reflected on her relationship with substances and her own mental health.

"I've never laid eyes on methamphetamine. Not once. I’m not claiming I haven't experimented with drugs in the past. I've openly shared on Instagram that I used to indulge in a bump or two of cocaine occasionally, but that’s behind me now. I refer to it as the devil's dandruff – I absolutely can't tolerate it," she stated back then.

"The topic of mental health is an important one, and that's a great question. Unless you're a qualified professional, please refrain from diagnosing me. I'm fully capable of seeking therapy independently. I'm not denying that I experience depression—I acknowledge it. However, do I consider myself mentally ill? Definitely not."

That same year, she caused a stir among her followers by posting a now-deleted video on Instagram where she described sexual encounters she had with a married individual.

"It was incredibly humiliating. I can't put it into words. It felt as though it wasn't even me. It was like a spiritual assault, and it transformed my life to such an extent that I no longer care. I have this sense that nothing truly matters. Just go on living your life and express what you feel," she shared back then.

Manning shows no signs of taking a break, as evidenced by five upcoming projects featured on the TV and film database, IMDb. Among them is "Dragged Off," a movie centered around a fictional yet iconic pop artist who has been overlooked by history.
